Note to Potential Clients:
Dear Writer:
Please do not succumb to anger or coronary thrombosis when you see the amount of red
on your manuscript. I take the trouble to line-edit your work, not to be picky
(although I am -- I mark everything I see), but in hopes of helping you to become a better
writer. Many of my comments are made not because you are wrong, but because I feel
the manuscript can be improved by my suggested changes, which, of course, you have the
choice of ignoring if you wish.
As an author you will probably gain the most from my line editing if you consider why
I made the comments. If you notice a pattern of repeated words or sentence patterns,
over-use of and as a conjunction, over-use of was or were (never there
was or it was, if possible) and words such as just, even or so
which are usually best omitted, perhaps you can edit your future work and make changes to
improve your writing style.
If you would like to see a sample of my editing, you may send me five pages of your
manuscript which I will edit for free if you write FIVE PAGE FREE SAMPLE on the editing
guidelines form under method of payment. SASE, please.
Sincerely,
Carol Dennis
